Fatherhood Fuels Fijian Drua Co-Captain Tevita Ikanivere’s Drive for Greatness

Fijian Drua hooker Tevita Ikanivere has embraced a new chapter in his life, one that brings both joy and a deeper sense of purpose. While his role as Drua Co-Captain for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season is significant, it is his newfound role as a father that has truly transformed him.

Ikanivere expressed his excitement about fatherhood, emphasizing how it has reshaped his priorities. “It’s amazing to have a son, to have children. It brings a bigger sense of responsibility,” he shared. “Before, I used to do everything for my family back home. Now, I have my own little family. Being a husband and a father gives me purpose, and I look forward to each day knowing I need to provide and be better for my son and wife.”

The former Queen Victoria School student admitted that his lifestyle has shifted. Previously, he would often linger after training sessions, bonding with teammates. Now, he hurries home, knowing his “number one fan” is eagerly waiting for him.

On the field, Ikanivere is ready to shoulder added responsibilities as a Co-Captain, leading his team with the same dedication he shows at home. This dual role of leader and family man has given him new energy and motivation as he prepares for the season ahead.
