Fijian Drua coach Glen Jackson emphasized that the Sun Bell Drua 10s tournament was primarily organized to identify emerging rugby talent. Jackson highlighted the importance of such events in scouting young players who can potentially contribute to the team’s future success.

“The main reason for hosting this tournament is to spot talent,” he explained. “For instance, young Kalioni, who played lock for the winning team, caught my eye during a 7s game in Lautoka just three weeks ago. He was outstanding. Similarly, Joweli showed flashes of brilliance before unfortunately breaking his arm.”

Jackson also noted that the tournament serves as a vital platform for the Drua development squad, offering game time to players who typically spend most of their time in rigorous training. “It’s beneficial for our development boys,” he said. “They train hard but don’t often get the chance to play. Some impressive young players stepped up and delivered in the right areas.”
