For Angel Reese, new partnership with McDonald’s ‘felt like it was meant to be’
In February, the fast food chain will launch its first signature meal by a female athlete

Angel Reese is one of the most recognizable faces in women’s basketball. The Chicago Sky star’s visibility goes far beyond her on-the-court play, in which she has excelled, securing the WNBA’s rebounds-per-game record (13.1) and a rookie record of 26 double-doubles. Reese also has shown consistent commitment to her entrepreneurial efforts and secured multiple brand partnerships, including her latest endeavor with McDonald’s.
Starting Feb. 10, Reese and McDonald’s will launch the Angel Reese Special, a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese that features a new barbecue sauce. According to McDonald’s, it is the fast food chain’s first signature meal by a female athlete.
Reese spoke with Andscape about the new partnership, how she remains grounded as her profile rises and her hopes for the future of women’s basketball. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
Another one! Another win. Angel, what does a win mean to you?
To me, a win isn’t just about what happens on the court — it’s about the work, the sacrifice and the mindset before the game even starts. It’s a celebration of all the sweat, the late nights and the people who’ve supported me along the way. A win is bigger than the scoreboard. It’s about inspiring others and showing them that anything is possible if you stay true to yourself and put in the work.
How do you determine who to partner with, and why did you decide to pair with McDonald’s?
I always want my partnerships to feel authentic to who I am. McDonald’s just hits home for me because it’s been part of my life for as long as I can remember, whether it is grabbing a McChicken after games growing up or knowing how deep their connection is to hoops culture. Plus, being a McDonald’s All-American alum, it just felt like it was meant to be. When McDonald’s approached me about this partnership, it was an easy yes. They see me for who I am — strong, confident and unapologetically myself.

What went into creating your signature McDonald’s meal?
The process was so much fun! McDonald’s wanted the meal to feel personal to me, so we added bacon, because I love it, and then the Bold BBQ sauce, which matches who I am. We wanted to create something that wasn’t just tasty but also celebrated my style and the energy I bring to everything in my life.
What gives you, Angel Reese, the extra kick? And how are you so empowered to approach everything so boldly?
That extra kick comes from my confidence and knowing I’ve put in the work. When you’re prepared and you stay true to who you are, there’s no reason to hold back. I was raised to own who I am and to walk boldly in every room I enter. Whether it’s on or off the court, I bring passion and authenticity to everything I do.
This is McDonald’s’ first partnership by a female athlete nationally. Outside of this, what is your favorite “first” you’ve had in your life?
There’ve been so many “firsts” I’m proud of, but I’d say winning the national championship with my LSU team is at the top. That wasn’t just a win for our program — it was for women’s sports, women’s basketball and for every young girl watching.
