NFL Fines Eagles’ Jalyx Hunt for ‘Violent’ Bow and Arrow Celebration—Fans Outraged

The NFL continues to issue fines for player actions from the past season, including those from the Super Bowl. Recently, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jalyx Hunt became one of the latest players to receive a fine for his on-field behavior during the championship game.

Hunt was fined $5,690 for “unsportsmanlike conduct” due to his sack celebration during the second quarter. At that moment, the Eagles were leading 10-0, and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, along with the offensive line, missed their blocking assignments. This mistake allowed the Eagles’ defense to swarm quarterback Patrick Mahomes, leading to one of the many sacks he endured that night.

After the play, Hunt celebrated by mimicking the act of drawing and firing a bow and arrow into the air. Though he did not aim it at anyone, the NFL still classified it as a “violent gesture,” resulting in the fine.

Fans quickly criticized the decision, questioning why such a celebration was penalized. Some mocked the ruling, suggesting that a bow and arrow being considered violent was an outdated perspective.
