Fijian Drua Shake Things Up: 13 Changes as They Hunt First Win Against Hurricanes

Coach Glen Jackson has made wholesale changes to the Fijian Drua’s lineup ahead of their crucial Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Hurricanes at Napier’s McLean Park on Saturday. Following their heartbreaking loss to the Brumbies in Suva last weekend, the Drua are determined to bounce back and secure their first win of the 2025 campaign. Their opponents, the Hurricanes, are also hunting for their first victory after falling to the Crusaders in Christchurch.

In a bold move, Jackson has altered 13 of the 15 starting positions, with only lock Mesake Vocevoce and backrower Ella Canakaivata retaining their spots from the previous match. Notably, hooker and co-captain Tevita Ikanivere has been left out of the matchday 23, while try-scoring sensation Iosefo Masi will start from the bench.

The new-look forward pack sees Emosi Tuqiri, Zuriel Togiatama, and Mesake Doge forming the front row, with Vocevoce now pairing with Isoa Nasilasila in the second row. Meli Derenalagi, Motikiai Murray, and Canakaivata complete the back row, bringing both experience and physicality.

In the halves, co-captain Frank Lomani partners with exciting 2024 Flying Fijians debutant Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, pushing Caleb Muntz to the bench. The midfield will see Inia Tabuavou and Tuidraki Samusamuvodre linking up for the first time this season.

The back three boast electrifying pace, with Taniela Rakuro and Junior Ratuva on the wings and Ilaisa Droasese providing stability at fullback. The bench features impact players like Kitione Salawa, Muntz, and the dynamic Masi.
