The Denver Nuggets suffered a 123-100 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night.

Following the matchup against the new and improved Lakers led by young star Luka Doncic, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone spoke with the media.

Malone shared his thoughts on the blowout loss, mentioning that Denver was “out-coached” in the matchup.

“It speaks to their aggression, their physicality and our inability to handle it,” Malone said, per Jake Shapiro. “That ultimately falls on me to get a team ready to play. We were outplayed tonight. We were outcoached tonight.”

The Lakers ended the night shooting 50% from the field, 39% from three, and 84% from the free-throw line. Los Angeles also posted just eight turnovers, compared to the Nuggets’ 20 turnovers.

After Malone took the blame for the loss, explaining that the Nuggets were outcoached, Denver will have a day to reset before their next matchup.

The Nuggets will be back on the court on Monday at 7 p.m. ET against the Indiana Pacers. Denver currently sits at No. 3 in the Western Conference standings with a 37-20 record.

In the loss to the Lakers, star center Nikola Jokic struggled to find consistency as a scorer but still managed to post an impressive triple-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
