Eagles Raid Giants Again! LB Patrick Johnson Returns to Philly in Latest NFC East Shake-Up

The Philadelphia Eagles have added another former New York Giants player to their roster, signing linebacker Patrick Johnson to a one-year deal, according to Dianna Russini. Johnson joins a growing list of ex-Giants in Philadelphia, including running back Saquon Barkley and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, both of whom agreed to terms with the team earlier this week.

This signing marks a return to familiar territory for Johnson. Originally selected by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Tulane, he spent over three seasons in Philadelphia before being waived in September 2024. The Giants quickly claimed him, and he went on to play in 12 games for New York last season before landing on injured reserve.

Johnson has primarily been a special teams contributor throughout his career, appearing in 61 games with two starts. He has compiled 39 tackles (24 solo, one for loss), a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and four quarterback hits. At 27 years old, he will likely provide depth at linebacker while continuing his role on special teams.

The Eagles’ recent acquisitions signal a concerted effort to bolster their roster with familiar talent. By bringing back Johnson, they not only add experience but also a player already accustomed to their system.
