Dylan Walker’s Shock Exit: Warriors Star Joins Struggling Eels in Emergency Move
Parramatta has secured the services of veteran utility Dylan Walker after the Warriors granted him an early release on compassionate grounds. The former Kangaroo and State of Origin representative will return to Australia and link up with the Eels, effective immediately.
Walker, 30, has been a standout for the Warriors since arriving in 2023, bringing versatility and experience to the squad. While originally making his name as a Dally M Centre of the Year, he has since adapted to a utility role, covering five-eighth, lock, and even dummy half. Despite the Warriors’ desire to retain him for the remainder of the season, club CEO Cameron George acknowledged the personal reasons behind Walker’s decision to return home.
“We were keen for Dylan to stay until the end of the season, but we appreciate why he needs to return to Sydney,” George said. “We’ve really enjoyed having him at our club, and he has given us tremendous service. He goes with our support and best wishes.”
Walker’s arrival at Parramatta comes at a crucial time, as the Eels have struggled under new coach Jason Ryles, losing their first three games of the season. Eels football boss Mark O’Neill believes Walker’s toughness and playmaking ability will complement the team’s style and provide much-needed leadership.
The experienced playmaker will be available for selection in Round 5 when Parramatta takes on the Dragons.
