Eels Star Joe Ofahengaue Granted Immediate Release to Chase New Opportunity
The Parramatta Eels have officially announced the immediate release of Joe Ofahengaue from his NRL playing contract, allowing him to pursue a new opportunity elsewhere. Joe, who joined the Eels in 2023, quickly became an integral part of the team — both on and off the field. Known for his professionalism, experience, and strong on-field performances, Joe earned the respect of teammates and coaches alike.
During his time at the Club, he achieved the significant milestone of playing his 200th NRL game, a proud moment shared with the Eels community. General Manager of Football, Mark O’Neill, praised Joe for his commitment, leadership, and the positive influence he had, especially on the younger players.
“Joe’s impact went beyond the game — he helped shape the culture in our squad,” said O’Neill. “His mentorship and guidance will leave a lasting legacy.”
The Club extends its heartfelt thanks to Joe, his wife Sofi, and their children, wishing them all the best in their next chapter.
