Kyren Wilson showcased his resilience and class as he secured his second Shanghai Masters title with a gripping 11-9 victory over fellow Englishman Ali Carter. The world number two, who first lifted the trophy a decade ago in 2014, overcame a late surge from Carter to triumph in what proved to be a high-quality and fiercely contested final.

Carter, a surprise finalist after receiving a last-minute call-up due to Mark Allen’s withdrawal, showed he belonged on the big stage once again. He then closed out the match with a composed clearance of 57, sealing the title and pocketing a £210,000 winner’s cheque.

He overcame rising star Si Jiahui, snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan, and reigning world champion Zhao Xintong, showing glimpses of the form that saw him crowned world champion in 2024.
