Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer expresses strong confidence about the Crimson Tide’s prospects in 2025 | Sporting News

Alabama football had one of its best opportunities to reach the College Football Playoff in 2024 with the introduction of the new 12-team Playoff format.
However, despite this advantage, the Crimson Tide were left out of the CFP after suffering three regular season losses.
This is why head coach Kalen DeBoer is looking forward to starting next season with a challenging non-conference schedule.
“We’re currently at eight, and next year, with Florida State as our opener and Wisconsin a few weeks later, we’ve got a competitive slate,” DeBoer remarked ahead of the Reese’s Senior Bowl. “That’s exactly what we want heading into conference play. We want to be tested and ready as we move into SEC action.”
Alabama will also host ULM in Tuscaloosa during the week between their games against Florida State and Wisconsin, followed by SEC matchups later in the season.
The 2025 season will demand the best from DeBoer and his team, with the clear goal of making it to the CFP, especially given their “realistic path” to qualification.
Looking ahead, the Tide’s head coach already feels a significant shift. “I really appreciate what our staff and players are doing to reflect, collaborate, and keep progressing. There are a lot of positive changes already, and internally, it feels so different as we move forward into 2025,” he said, according to The Tuscaloosa News.
If things don’t go as planned, DeBoer could face intense scrutiny from both fans and analysts.
