Chaos on Track: Bearman Apologizes After Verstappen Fumes Over Spanish GP Blockade
Oliver Bearman has issued an apology to Max Verstappen following a tense moment during the Spanish Grand Prix, where on-track battles briefly converged and sparked frustration. While Verstappen was locked in a high-speed chase of McLaren’s Lando Norris for second place, Bearman was simultaneously caught in a scrap with Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson. The two duels intersected as Norris and Verstappen came up to lap the midfield pair, leading to a brief delay for the Red Bull driver.
Verstappen, visibly agitated over the radio, appeared to believe Bearman had impeded him during the critical phase of his pursuit. When asked about the Dutchman’s reaction, Bearman said he was unsure of what upset Verstappen but acknowledged the complexity of the moment.
“Yeah, I’m not sure why,” Bearman admitted. “I need to have a look. But I am sorry if I did anything bad to him. It’s tough to manage everything that’s going on in the race.”
He added that there was no ill intent behind the incident and apologized for any unintended interference. “I wasn’t trying to do anything bad, of course,” he said. “But I’m sorry if I held him up.”
