Bulldogs Secure Rising Star Aaymon Fitzgibbon on Multi-Year Deal
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have secured the services of young playmaker Aaymon Fitzgibbon, son of current Cronulla Sharks head coach Craig Fitzgibbon, on a multi-year deal.
Fitzgibbon joins the Bulldogs from the Illawarra Steelers, where he most recently competed in the SG Ball Cup alongside talented teammate Kade Reed. A versatile half who can play at either five-eighth or halfback, Fitzgibbon is known for his game management and strong kicking ability, showing a maturity beyond his years when controlling play on the field.
Growing up a passionate Sydney Roosters supporter, Fitzgibbon idolised legendary halfback Cooper Cronk, a player he modelled his game on due to their similar on-field roles. However, he credits former NSW Blues star Shaun Timmins as his greatest mentor throughout his development in the St George Illawarra Dragons pathways program. Timmins’ experience and guidance helped shape Fitzgibbon into a composed and tactical playmaker.
Despite the influences of big names in the game, Fitzgibbon highlights the crucial role his family has played in his journey. He acknowledges that without their unwavering support and daily encouragement, he wouldn’t be in the position he is today.
With a strong pedigree, elite-level guidance, and a growing skillset, Fitzgibbon’s move to Belmore marks a significant step forward in his career. The Bulldogs, who have been heavily focused on developing youth talent, will be eager to see the young playmaker continue his rise through the ranks as they build toward a competitive future.
