Eagles Poach Super Bowl Defender! Philly Signs EDGE Joshua Uche to Reinforce Pass Rush

The Philadelphia Eagles have bolstered their pass rush by signing veteran edge rusher Joshua Uche to a one-year, $1.75 million contract, with only $750,000 guaranteed. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Uche joins the Eagles after a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he finished the 2024 season.

Uche, originally drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, spent the first three and a half seasons of his career in New England before being traded to Kansas City in 2024 for a sixth-round pick. During his tenure with the Patriots, he recorded 76 tackles, 20.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. However, his impact with the Chiefs was limited, managing just 10 tackles in six games and not appearing in their Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia.

With the Eagles parting ways with longtime edge rusher Josh Sweat earlier in the offseason, Uche’s arrival provides them with an experienced pass rusher who has flashed potential as a disruptor. His best season came in 2022 when he notched 11.5 sacks for New England, showcasing his ability to get to the quarterback. While not a high-profile signing, Uche’s addition adds depth to the Eagles’ defensive front as they prepare for the 2025 season.
