Lakers Eye Historic Superteam: Giannis Could Join Dončić and LeBron in Blockbuster Move

The Los Angeles Lakers are once again at the center of blockbuster rumors, this time linked to two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Following their stunning acquisition of Luka Dončić, the Lakers are reportedly eyeing another major move that could form one of the most formidable trios in NBA history. According to Bovada, Los Angeles holds the third-best odds (+450) to land Antetokounmpo if he requests a trade from Milwaukee after the season. Only the Brooklyn Nets (-200) and the San Antonio Spurs (+325) have better odds, while the Miami Heat (+500) and Toronto Raptors (+1600) are also in the mix.

Bleacher Report’s salary cap expert Eric Pincus recently pointed out that despite already pulling off the dream scenario with Dončić, the Lakers aren’t satisfied. “It’s a stretch, but it’d be remiss to leave him out if this is a team’s wish list,” Pincus said of Antetokounmpo in March. With Dončić now wearing purple and gold, Los Angeles could pursue the Greek Freak to complement their new franchise cornerstone — and possibly a returning LeBron James.

But Giannis, who has long been intrigued by bigger markets and championship aspirations, could exert pressure on the Bucks to send him where he wants — much like other superstars have in the past.

If LeBron James opts out of his $52.6 million player option and takes a pay cut, it could open the door for greater flexibility. A Big 3 featuring Dončić, Antetokounmpo, and LeBron would make the Lakers instant title favorites. However, the team has been cautious with its remaining assets, notably refusing to part ways with Austin Reaves even in the Dončić trade. That stance might have to change if they want to make a final, franchise-altering swing.
