Verstappen Set to Welcome First Child Just Days After Miami Grand Prix in Perfectly Timed Baby News

Max Verstappen is preparing to become a father for the first time, as he and his partner Kelly Piquet are expecting their first child together in early summer 2025. The couple shared the news publicly in late 2024, sparking speculation about whether the birth might clash with Verstappen’s Formula 1 commitments during the busy 2025 season.

The 2025 F1 calendar is especially packed in the spring, with a demanding stretch of seven races taking place over just nine weeks. This run begins with the Japanese Grand Prix on April 6th and continues through to the Spanish Grand Prix on June 1st. Given this intense schedule, many wondered whether Verstappen might face the possibility of missing a race to be present for the birth of his child.

However, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has moved to reassure fans and the team alike. Speaking to Krone Zeitung, Marko confirmed that the baby’s expected due date will not coincide with any of Verstappen’s race weekends. According to Marko, Kelly Piquet is scheduled to give birth in early May, with Krone Zeitung reporting a specific date of Tuesday, May 6th. That places the due date just two days after the Miami Grand Prix, a standalone race that occurs during a break in the calendar — with the previous Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia on April 20th and the next race in Imola not until May 18th.

This fortunate timing means Verstappen is unlikely to miss any racing action, and once the baby arrives, he will become the second active father on the 2025 grid, joining Stake’s Nico Hülkenberg. Former F1 dads Sergio Perez and Kevin Magnussen, who both lost their seats after the 2024 season, are no longer competing. Verstappen’s transition into fatherhood adds a new personal milestone in what continues to be a dominant and eventful F1 career.
