New Era for Fiji 7s! Matana & Delaiwau Lead the Charge at Historic Hong Kong 7s
Fiji Airways Men’s 7s hooker Jerry Matana and Fijiana 7s standout Ilisapeci Delaiwau have been named captains of Fiji’s national teams for the highly anticipated Hong Kong 7s, which kicks off tomorrow.
Matana, who previously led the men’s side at the Dubai 7s last year, will once again take charge, bringing his experience and leadership to a team eager to make a statement on the world stage. For Delaiwau, this tournament marks a historic milestone as she steps into the captaincy role for the first time. Her appointment signals a new era for the Fijiana 7s, as they aim to build on their growing reputation in international rugby.
Hong Kong 7s has long been a special tournament for Fiji, with the men’s team boasting an illustrious history at the event. This year, both teams will be eager to uphold that legacy at the brand-new Kai Tak Stadium, which is hosting the tournament for the first time.
