Quarterback Skylar Thompson has officially become a free agent after clearing waivers following his release by the Miami Dolphins on Saturday. Thompson, a seventh-round draft pick in 2022, had limited but notable opportunities during his tenure in Miami.

This season, the young quarterback appeared in three games, including a Week 3 start against the Seattle Seahawks. Across those outings, Thompson completed 21-of-33 passes for 187 yards. Despite flashes of potential, he struggled to secure a long-term role in Miami’s crowded quarterback room.

Over his two-year career, Thompson has played in 10 games, including three starts, posting a 58.7 percent completion rate, 721 passing yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. His most prominent appearance came during the Dolphins’ 2022 playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills, where he completed 18-of-45 passes for 220 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

Now a free agent, Thompson has the chance to explore opportunities with teams in need of quarterback depth or a developmental prospect.
