Bulldogs Lock in Powerhouse Viliame Kikau Until 2028: The NRL’s Most Destructive Forward Stays for the Long Haul
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have locked in one of the NRL’s premier forwards, with powerhouse Viliame Kikau signing a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Club until the end of 2028.
Kikau, 30, has been a key figure in the Bulldogs’ resurgence over the past two seasons. As a dominant back-rower, his performances have been nothing short of outstanding, earning him the prestigious Dr. George Peponis Medal in 2024. In a standout season, Kikau averaged over 100 run metres and 26 tackles per game, while also leading the NRL in charge-downs.
The Fijian international has not only been a force on the field but has also emerged as a senior leader in Cameron Ciraldo’s squad. In 2025, he stepped up to captain the Bulldogs on several occasions, showcasing his growing leadership qualities.
“I’m very happy to be staying at the Bulldogs,” Kikau shared. “This Club has embraced my family and me since day one, so it was an easy decision to re-sign. I’m excited about the journey ahead. We’ve made great progress, but we’ve got more to achieve, and I’m determined to help the Bulldogs win their next premiership.”
Bulldogs General Manager of Football, Phil Gould AM, praised Kikau’s impact both on and off the field. “We’re thrilled to secure Viliame for another two years,” Gould said. “Since joining the Bulldogs, Viliame has been everything we hoped for and more. He’s a natural leader, a fantastic person, and one of the most destructive players in the competition.”
