Cue the Comeback: WSS Launches Biggest-Ever Seniors Snooker Season with Open Entry and Record Prizes
The World Seniors Snooker (WSS) has officially revealed the schedule for the 2025/26 season, ushering in a new era of opportunity and competition for players aged 40 and above. Featuring nine action-packed tour events, the upcoming campaign introduces major changes aimed at enhancing participation and raising the stakes — including increased prize money and open eligibility for current World Snooker Tour (WST) professionals aged 40+.
A standout development this season is the doubling of the winner’s prize to £1,000 at each event, with prize money now being paid out down to the last 16. Altogether, WSS has pledged a total prize fund of £27,000 across the nine tournaments — more than double the previous season’s offering.
Chairman Jason Francis expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, stating, “This season there are a lot more players eligible to play, including a number of WST professionals, and we have pledged £27,000 in prize money across our nine events. If you are over 40, now is the time to dust off your cue and come and enjoy some friendly but serious competition.”
All events will be held at the Crucible Sports and Social Club in Reading, beginning Friday, 15 August 2025. Each tournament weekend will conclude with a special Super Seniors event on Sunday, exclusively for players aged 55 and above.
Players interested in competing must hold a valid WSS Tour membership and can register now via WPBSA SnookerScores.
With increased accessibility, higher stakes, and a commitment to growing the sport, the 2025/26 WSS season promises to be the most inclusive and exciting yet.
