The Los Angeles Lakers demonstrated their strength with a strong win over the Denver Nuggets, with Bronny James not making the trip.

Second round draft pick Bronny James was not with the LA Lakers to face Denver, continuing his development on G League team the South Bay Lakers.

Bronny James is on a two-way contract, and has not played under JJ Redick since the All-Star break, his last appearance coming as he put up a NBA career-high 9 points against the Jazz, in a loss.

Bronny James was in action for the South Bay Lakers over the weekend, defeating the Valley Suns 118-98.

Bronny put up 24 points, five rebounds and six assists, along with two steals. It was his fourth game for the team with more than 20 points.

Lakers pre-season favorite Quincy Olivari was also in action, scoring 13 points.

Bronny says he is learning from Luka Doncic

Speaking following the team’s victory, Bronny James was asked via Raj Chiplau what it is like practising alongside new LA Lakers star Luka Doncic.

He responded that his main takeaway is to be ready for the unexpected, and he says he is trying to learn from the Slovenian.

Bronny said: “Just his patience. Just being able to be unpredictable. You never know what he’s going to do.

“That’s the best thing I’ve seen so far from. I just keep trying to pick up stuff from him.”

Doncic is beginning to settle in LA, scoring 32 points in the win over the Denver Nuggets, his highest output so far.

Bronny James is being allowed to continue his development in South Bay. Even with a testing schedule including a back-to-back ahead of the Nuggets game, he was not required.

He has played in 17 NBA games so far in his career, averaging just 4.2 minutes per game. Being able to get in substantial G League minutes is far more valuable.

But also getting the chance to learn and practise alongside Doncic is a great opportunity too, and he is determined to keep learning.
