Being part of a four-time premiership squad speaks for itself — that kind of success doesn’t happen without players who are willing to put their bodies on the line for the badge.
That’s why the news of his move to the Perth Bears from 2027 on a two-year deal hits with mixed emotions. On one hand, it’s a fantastic foundation signing for a new club looking to set standards from day one. Sorensen’s experience in high-pressure finals football and his professionalism around preparation will be invaluable in helping establish the culture in Perth. Reuniting with former teammate Liam Henry should also give the Bears some early chemistry as they build their roster.
But speaking honestly as a Panthers fan, there’s always been one lingering frustration — durability. Scottie is the kind of player you absolutely love having in your side when he’s fit and firing. However, over the past few seasons, injuries have interrupted his rhythm. There have been stretches where he’s sidelined, and even when he does return, he hasn’t always been able to complete full games consistently. That stop-start pattern has sometimes made it hard for him to maintain momentum across a full campaign.
None of that takes away from his commitment or impact when he’s healthy. When Sorensen is on the field, he competes hard, defends with intent, and does the tough, often unnoticed work that wins championships. The challenge for Perth will be managing his body and maximizing his availability.
