With just three days remaining before their highly anticipated opener against Ireland, Fijiana 7s head coach Timoci Volavola has outlined the team’s key objectives for the Dubai Sevens tournament.
Speaking confidently about the squad’s potential, Volavola emphasized the importance of integrating the players into the global stage while working to elevate their standards in the World Series.
“Our focus this weekend is to expose and integrate the girls into the world stage and groom them to uplift their level in the World Series,” Volavola shared, reflecting his vision of fostering long-term growth and competitiveness.
Preparation for Dubai’s humid conditions has also been a priority, ensuring the players are well-acclimatized to perform at their peak. Volavola addressed the inclusion of nine debutants in the squad, expressing faith in their abilities while urging them to enjoy the experience and embrace the challenge of competing at this elite level.
The Fijiana 7s are set for an action-packed schedule, beginning their campaign against Ireland at 5:44 pm on Saturday. They will later face defending champions Australia at 9:05 pm before concluding pool play against China at 1:13 am on Sunday.
The Fiji men’s team also faces a tough pool, opening against Spain at 6:06 pm and USA at 9:52 pm on Saturday, with a high-stakes clash against New Zealand at 3:16 am on Sunday. Both teams aim to shine on one of the biggest stages in rugby sevens.
