George Russell Steals Spotlight in £2.5 Million Mercedes AMG ONE Ahead of Silverstone Showdown
George Russell made a grand entrance at Silverstone ahead of the British Grand Prix, turning heads as he rolled up in his ultra-rare £2.5 million Mercedes-AMG ONE. The high-performance hypercar, which blends Formula 1 technology with road-legal innovation, instantly drew attention during the media day festivities.
The Mercedes F1 driver proudly added the AMG ONE to his enviable car collection earlier this year, describing it at the time as his “dream car.” Reflecting on the acquisition, Russell wrote, “So honoured to own this car and it’s been a dream of mine ever since I joined Mercedes F1 back in 2017. Crazy that the engine is a modified version from our 2015 F1 car – the first ever Mercedes F1 car I drove. What a beast!!!”
Unveiled in 2017 as a concept and delivered to customers from 2023, the AMG ONE is a marvel of engineering. It features a 1.6-litre hybrid E-turbo V6, directly derived from F1 power units, producing a staggering 1,049 horsepower. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, underscoring its status as one of the most advanced and exclusive road cars ever made. Only 275 units exist globally.
Russell’s AMG garage doesn’t stop at the AMG ONE. His lineup includes a classic 1970 Mercedes 280 SL, an AMG G63 and C63, a GT S Coupe, an SL63, and an AMG C63 S — each reflecting his deep connection with the brand and his journey in motorsport.
As the Silverstone weekend kicks off, Russell joins a strong British contingent including Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, Alex Albon, and rising star Ollie Bearman. Speaking about the significance of his home Grand Prix, Russell expressed pride in the enduring presence of Silverstone on the F1 calendar.
“The calendar has changed over the years—new circuits have been added, and some historic ones have rotated out—but Silverstone is going nowhere,” he affirmed. “It’s one of the most special Grands Prix, not just for us drivers but for fans at the track and watching from home.”
As he gears up for his home race, Russell isn’t just showcasing speed on the track, but also making a bold statement off it — with his dream machine finally a reality.
