ATLANTA — Milwaukee Bucks teammates Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard will be on opposing ends of the court during the 2025 NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco on Sunday, Feb. 16, as the pair were drafted onto different teams on Thursday night.

Though they are both Eastern Conference all-stars – and Antetokounmpo is a starter as the league’s leading vote-getter – they were moved onto different teams by TNT analysts Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley.

Barkley drafted Antetokounmpo while O’Neal drafted Lillard.

Playing with Antetokounmpo will be Nikola Jokić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, Pascal Siakam, Alperen Şengün, Karl-Anthony Towns and Donovan Mitchell.

Playing with Lillard will be LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Jaylen Brown.

Whitnall High School alumnus and Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is on Kenny Smith’s team.

The all-star game is in a new format this year, with the 24 all-stars being divided onto three teams. A fourth team of rising stars (first- and second-year players and G League stars) will compete with them in a mini-tournament where the first team to 40 points wins.

It is the latest in a string of ideas by the league to try and foster a more competitive environment for the exhibition.

Lillard is the reigning All-Star Game MVP, and Antetokounmpo won that award in 2021.

Interestingly, Antetokounmpo drafted Lillard onto his team for the 2023 game when the point guard was playing with the Portland Trail Blazers.
