Grant Hill is already recruiting KD and DBook for 2028 Olympics – Basketball Network
USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill was on hand for the Phoenix Suns’ home game against the L.A. Clippers on Monday night.
G-Hill was there to join the Suns in honoring Kevin Durant and Devin Booker’s gold-medal-winning efforts in last summer’s Olympics in Paris. However, aside from presenting them with their Olympic rings, Grant also made an early pitch for the Suns’ superstar duo.
“Make sure you guys answer your phone in four years,” said Hill as he handed D-Book his ring.
The actual “Captain America”
Although his pitch comes way too early, getting the commitment from two players who have been to multiple games will come a long way for USAB. With LeBron James and Stephen Curry not likely to return for another Olympics, the onus is on KD to lead Team USA in the 2028 Olympics, which will be held on U.S. soil in Los Angeles.
Durant has played and won gold in four consecutive Summer Games beginning in 2012. Durant gained “Captain America” status in Paris after overtaking Lisa Leslie as Team USA’s all-time leading scorer.
In the 2024 edition of the tournament, Kevin became the first male basketball player to win four gold medals in the Olympics. If indeed he returns in 2028, the Texas product will further solidify his status as the best male basketball Olympian ever. Although he is already 36, KD said he might chase a fifth gold in L.A.

Ant was impressed with DBook
Meanwhile, Booker is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, having also represented the Stars and Stripes in 2020. In Paris, Devin was one of the best all-around players for Team USA, who got the job done on both ends of the court. Even Anthony Edwards was impressed with DBook’s Paris performance.
“Steph [Curry] had great games, he [Kevin Durant] had great games, LeBron [James] had great games, but Book was guarding the best player, turning down shots…Not gonna lie, I was impressed watching him,” Edwards said.
Some camps have expressed their concern about LeBron and Steph’s likely departure from the national team. However, if Durant chooses to chase one more gold and Booker returns to back up his Phoenix teammate, that’s excellent news for -Hill and USAB.
