Bulldogs Pull Off Power Play: Finau Latu Joins Effective Immediately After Shock Dragons Exit
Emerging forward Finau Latu has officially signed with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and will link up with the club immediately following an early release from his contract with the St. George Illawarra Dragons.
The 20-year-old prop, known for his aggressive carries and powerful presence in the middle, had been contracted to the Dragons but has now made the switch to Belmore as part of the Bulldogs’ ongoing rebuild. Originally set to join the club for the 2025 season, Latu will instead be available for selection in the remainder of the 2024 campaign after both clubs agreed to an early termination of his Dragons deal.
Latu, the younger brother of Bulldogs front-rower Samuel Latu, is seen as a strong long-term addition to Cameron Ciraldo’s squad, adding depth to the forward pack. The Tongan-born powerhouse has been highly regarded through the junior ranks and was a standout in the NSW Cup this season.
This move highlights Canterbury’s focus on building a competitive and youthful roster, with Latu expected to develop into a regular NRL player in the coming seasons. His immediate inclusion gives the Bulldogs another dynamic option as they push to finish the season strongly and build momentum for 2025.
