Marchand Leads the Charge as Bruins Triumph Over Blackhawks in Original Six Showdown

The Boston Bruins wrapped up a thrilling comeback win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night but quickly shifted their focus to a back-to-back matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on Wednesday. The game not only pitted two Original Six teams against each other but also evoked memories of their dramatic 2013 Stanley Cup Final, where Chicago triumphed over Boston.

A decade later, Brad Marchand remains the lone player from either roster who experienced that showdown, and he made his mark in this contest. With Marchand leading the charge, the Bruins emerged victorious, defeating the Blackhawks 4-2.

The game began with Chicago’s Alex Vlasic lighting the lamp just 1:23 into the first period, giving the home team an early lead. The Bruins responded swiftly, though, as Morgan Geekie netted his third goal of the season, tying the score at 1-1.

Marchand took over in the second period, scoring two goals in a span of just over two minutes to give Boston a 3-1 advantage. The Blackhawks fought back with Jason Dickinson’s fifth goal of the season, narrowing the deficit to 3-2.

However, Geekie sealed the game for the Bruins in the third period with his second goal of the night and fourth of the season, securing Boston’s second consecutive win.
