Retirement Rumors Begin to Swirl

Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has expressed concerns that Hamilton may be nearing the end of his racing career. Speaking about the 40-year-old’s situation, Schumacher suggested that Hamilton could walk away from the sport altogether if his fortunes at Ferrari don’t turn around soon. “At some point, he might just say: ‘I don’t want this anymore. I’m 40, I’m rich, and it’s not worth the frustration.’” Schumacher highlighted the gulf in performance between Hamilton and Leclerc, noting that while the Ferrari-Hamilton partnership was envisioned as a bold new chapter, reality has so far fallen short of expectations.

Lewis Hamilton’s much-anticipated move to Ferrari has yet to yield the success many had hoped for. After departing Mercedes for the iconic Scuderia at the end of 2024, the seven-time World Champion has endured a challenging start to the 2025 Formula 1 season. Although he claimed an early win in the Chinese Grand Prix sprint race, that high was quickly erased when he was disqualified from the main race just a day later. Across the first five races, Hamilton’s best finish has been fifth, with a disappointing seventh-place result in Saudi Arabia—more than 30 seconds behind teammate Charles Leclerc, who secured Ferrari’s first podium of the season.
