Victor Lindelof picked up a hamstring injury playing for Sweden vs Slovakia and he is now expected to be sidelined for some period of time.
The news is a blow for the Red Devils, considering the Swede would have been a nailed-on starter alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez.
New manager Ruben Amorim is expected to play with a three-man backline and Lindelof’s injury has presented a selection headache for the Portuguese.
Leny Yoro has just returned to training after foot surgery and may not be risked. Casemiro or Jonny Evans could start alongside the centre-back duo. Harry Maguire is injured.
Evans is the specialist option for the manager, but Casemiro could get the nod in a makeshift role if Amorim wants more intensity and work rate.
