Warriors Eye Championship Boost with Bold Trade for All-Star Center Nikola Vucevic
A proposed NBA trade involving the Golden State Warriors has sparked attention, with Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey suggesting that the team should trade for Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic. Many analysts believe the Warriors need another All-Star scorer alongside Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler to remain competitive in the championship race next season. Bailey’s trade proposal suggests sending Moses Moody and Buddy Hield to the Bulls in exchange for Vucevic, the No. 45 pick in this year’s draft, and a 2028 second-round pick.
Vucevic, a two-time All-Star, averaged 18.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, and shot 53.0% from the field, 40.2% from beyond the arc, and 80.5% from the free-throw line during the 2023-2024 season. At 34 years old, Vucevic is entering the final year of his contract, set to earn $21.5 million. Bailey notes that while this move would help the Warriors now, it could be a “desperation” move given Vucevic’s age and expiring deal. Chicago’s inclusion of draft picks is necessary to balance the deal, as Vucevic’s long-term value doesn’t match the potential of Moody.
For the Warriors, adding Vucevic could provide a veteran presence in the paint and give them an additional offensive weapon alongside Curry and Butler, making them even more formidable in their pursuit of another championship.
