Travis Kelce Hints at NFL Retirement: ‘I’m Kicking Every Can Down the Road

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is contemplating retirement but hasn’t made a final decision on his future.

Following the Chiefs’ 40-22 Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, the 35-year-old admitted he is taking his time before deciding whether to return for the 2025 season. Speaking on the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason, Kelce emphasized that he isn’t rushing into any decisions.

“I’m kicking every can down the road. I don’t want to make any crazy choices,” he said. “I’ve played more football than almost anyone over the past five or six years. These deep playoff runs take a toll on the body.”

A three-time Super Bowl champion, Kelce holds the record for most postseason receptions in NFL history. While he believes he can still play at a high level, he wants to ensure he is fully committed before returning.

“If I do come back, it will be a whole-hearted decision,” he added. “I owe that to my teammates.”
