According to British media sources, Pep Guardiola has agreed to extend his contract with Manchester City for at least another season.
Guardiola, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the season, has overseen an era of extraordinary dominance since joining City in 2016. In the past seven years, City has won six Premier League titles and the Champions League.
City has not responded to claims that the 53-year-old Guardiola will extend his tenure for a tenth season, with an option for an extra year.
Under the Catalan coach, City became the first team to win four consecutive English league titles. He also led City to a treble in 2023, winning the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup in the same season, mirroring Manchester United’s success in 1999.
Guardiola’s apparent decision to stay comes while City is facing a litany of alleged financial infractions. The punishment might be as severe as ejection from the league.
