Ronnie O’Sullivan Apologizes for Withdrawals, Prioritizes Health and Wellbeing
Seven-time world snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has publicly apologized for his recent withdrawals from multiple tournaments, citing the need to focus on his health and overall wellbeing. The 49-year-old was initially scheduled to return at the Welsh Open this week after skipping the German Masters, the Masters, and Championship League matches. However, he withdrew on the day of his first-round match against Jamie Clarke.
In a statement, O’Sullivan acknowledged the disappointment his withdrawals have caused but emphasized that his decisions were made in the best interest of his health.
“I’ve been trying to prioritize my health and wellbeing, which sometimes means making last-minute decisions not to play,” he explained. “It’s never an easy decision, and I hate letting people down. I realize plenty of people who bought tickets to some recent snooker events will have been frustrated when I withdrew, so I just wanted to say sorry.”
O’Sullivan’s last appearance on the World Snooker Tour (WST) was in the Championship League in January, where he withdrew midway through his group matches after a difficult run, even breaking his cue in frustration. Despite these setbacks, he remains focused on recovery and returning to peak form.
Fans can expect to see him back in action at the World Open in Yushan later this month, where he aims to make a strong comeback. O’Sullivan also expressed gratitude for the continued support from his fans and reassured them that he is doing everything he can to regain his best form.
