In a twist no one saw coming, snooker icons Steve Davis and Jimmy White are set to reignite their legendary rivalry—not on the baize, but behind the DJ decks. The two former professionals, aged 67 and 63 respectively, will go head-to-head in a DJ Battle at the Rock N Roll Circus festival in Sheffield on Saturday, 30th August 2025.
While details of the musical showdown remain under wraps, fans across the globe are abuzz with speculation about what this unexpected clash might entail. Known for their contrasting styles during their snooker heydays, Davis and White will now channel that energy into mixing tracks instead of potting balls.
Joining the entertainment lineup is another unexpected name—former England footballer turned pundit Chris Waddle, whose appearance adds a further retro-sporting twist to the festival bill.
The Davis-White rivalry dates back to the 1980s, an era when the two titans frequently found themselves on opposite sides of high-stakes snooker tables. Though Davis dominated the decade with his six world titles, White was never far behind—an attacking, flamboyant force who thrilled crowds with his fearless style.
Reflecting on their competitive history, White recently said, “Playing Steve Davis back in the day felt like going to war. He was the toughest opponent I ever faced. His cue action was flawless, his temperament solid, and he hardly ever made mistakes. Meanwhile, I was more like Alex Higgins—probably even more attacking—but also a bit too fond of the party lifestyle.”
Despite the intensity of their matches, White insists there was always mutual respect. “There was never any bad blood between us. Steve was always practising, and I was… well, having fun.”
