Tigers Set Season-High on Floor, Defeat Pitt in Home Opener

CLEMSON, S.C. (Clemson Athletics) – The No. 22 Clemson Tigers achieved a season-best 49.225 on floor, highlighted by a 9.925 from redshirt junior Brie Clark, to secure a 195.350-195.275 victory over Pitt. The win, in front of 8,631 fans at Littlejohn Coliseum, marked the fifth consecutive home meet with a sellout crowd.
With the victory, Clemson improved to 3-3 on the season, with a 2-1 record in ACC play. Pitt now stands at 3-4, including 0-4 in the ACC.
Vault
The Tigers began their competition in the traditional Olympic rotation order for the first time this season, with Trinity Brown leading off with a 9.825 on her Yurchenko Full, tying her season high. Quinn Kuhl followed with a 9.725, and Tara Walsh scored a 9.700 in the third position. Madison Minner added a 9.775, while Eve Jackson posted a 9.700. In the final spot, Maggie Holman matched her career-high with a 9.850 to win the event, completing Clemson’s first rotation.
At the end of the first rotation, the Tigers led Pitt 48.875-48.725.
Bars
In the Tigers’ bar rotation, redshirt sophomore Lilly Lippeatt opened with a season-high 9.850, sticking her landing to tie for the event title with Pitt’s Emily Todd. Continuing the strong performance, Takota Berry and Jackson both posted 9.775s, while Hannah Clark stuck her landing but scored 9.200 after a fall. Rebecca Wells added a 9.800 with a stuck landing. However, the Tigers had to count a fall during this rotation, as Kuhl scored 8.975, bringing the total to 48.400.
At the halfway mark, Pitt led 97.575-97.275.
Beam
Lippeatt helped the Tigers regain momentum with a season-high 9.825 on beam, sticking her dismount. Clark followed with a strong routine, earning a season-high 9.900 to claim the event title. Clark is the only Tiger to earn multiple 9.900s this season, with her first coming on floor last week. This also marked the highest beam score by a Clemson athlete in 2025.
Freshman Danika Nielsen stuck her landing for a season-high 9.800, while sophomore Sierra Church contributed a 9.775. Kuhl had a solid dismount but fell to score 8.900. Graduate Tara Walsh, competing on beam for the first time in 2025, posted a 9.475, bringing the event total to 48.775.
Heading into the final rotation, Clemson trailed 146.325-146.125.
Floor
Lippeatt led off the floor rotation with a solid 9.800. Holman scored a season-high 9.850, and Minner followed with a 9.825. In her only event of the night, redshirt junior Molly Arnold earned 9.600, while Jackson tied her season-high with a 9.825. Clark finished strong with the Tigers’ first 9.925 of the season, claiming another event title and helping Clemson reach a 49.225 on floor.
Pitt finished their final rotation with a 48.950, falling short of Clemson’s score, securing the Tigers’ 195.350-195.275 win.
Next up, the Tigers will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face North Carolina on Sunday, February 9, at 4 p.m. on ACC Network.
