Future Panther Star: Jack Attard Eyes NRL Glory After Inspirational Rise Through Penrith Ranks

Rising rugby league star Jack Attard, a 2024 Australian Schoolboys representative, is fast becoming one of the most exciting fullback prospects in the game. Hailing from the Penrith Panthers’ junior pathways system, Attard has opened up about his rugby league journey, the lessons he’s learned so far, and his aspirations to make it to the NRL.

Over the past few seasons, the Panthers have been a powerhouse in the NRL, winning four straight premierships despite the departure of key stars like Jarome Luai, James Fisher-Harris, and Stephen Crichton. Their secret has been a consistent flow of homegrown talent, and Attard is part of the next generation, joining the likes of the McLean brothers, playmaker Jack Cole, and forwards Luron Patea and Mavrik Geyer in pushing for first-grade opportunities.

A versatile player, Attard has shown his skills not only at fullback but also at hooker during his time in the Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cups. His strong performances earned him a spot in the Panthers’ NRL pre-season training camp. Although a back injury sidelined him from the Pre-Season Challenge, he was still given a valuable four-week stint training with the top squad.

“That four-week program before Christmas was a great experience,” Attard said. “Being around players like Nathan Cleary was incredible — he really made an effort with the younger guys.”

Attard also spoke about his admiration for Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards and the role his family has played in supporting his journey. “My family has been behind me since I started playing footy at four. I want to repay them by making it to the NRL.”

He gave special thanks to Jersey Flegg Cup coach Jono Rolfe, calling him a great mentor and instrumental in his development. With passion, support, and a strong work ethic, Jack Attard is well on his way to becoming a future NRL star.
