World Seniors Snooker Returns with Record-Breaking 2026/27 Season: Road to the 2027 Championship Kicks Off in Reading
World Seniors Snooker (WSS) has officially announced its 2026/27 season calendar, setting the stage for another exciting campaign for players aged 40 and over. Building on the success of a record-breaking previous season, the tour will feature nine ranking tournaments, with competitors battling not only for prize money but also for coveted places at the 2027 World Seniors Championship.
The new season will get underway on 14 August 2026 and, as in previous years, every ranking event will be hosted at the Crucible Sports and Social Club in Reading. The tour remains open to all players aged 40 and above, including both current and former professional players seeking competitive opportunities on the senior circuit.
A minimum of four qualification spots for the 2027 World Seniors Championship will be awarded through the official WSS ranking list, adding extra significance to every tournament throughout the season. Event winners will once again receive £1,000 in prize money, while payouts will extend down to the last-16 stage, provided each event attracts at least 32 entrants.
Reflecting on the growth of the tour, World Seniors Chairman Jason Francis highlighted the achievements of the previous campaign. He noted that the 2025/26 season was the most successful in the organisation’s history, with Joe Perry capturing the British Open title and Ronnie O’Sullivan securing the World Seniors Championship crown. The season also saw nine players earn World Championship qualification through global qualifying events, including five who progressed directly from the official WSS tour.
Alongside the main ranking events, the popular Super Seniors competitions for players aged 55 and over will return, taking place on the Sunday of each tournament weekend.
Prospective competitors will be able to register from 3 July 2026 via the official scoring platform. All entrants must obtain a 2026/27 Tour Card and agree to the standard conditions of entry before taking part, as WSS prepares for what promises to be another highly competitive and memorable season.
